Documentary screening
World Space Week @ the CSIR: 'The Big Picture'
 
We would like to invite you to the screening of the National Geographic film on Earth observation titled: 'The Big Picture'
 
It is an exciting look at the value of  Earth observation presented as a visually-pleasing and informative narrative. It should inspire young and old to develop an interest in space technology, Earth observation and environmental sciences. 
 
It features the monitoring of fires in South Africa and includes high definition footage of the SANSA Space Operations, fires in the Kruger National Park, Working on Fire, Eskom and as well as state-of-the-art digital animation. 
 
Dr Konrad Wessels, an environmental remote sensing specialist from CSIR Meraka Institute, will be on hand to introduce viewers to the topic of the video.
 
 
Date:              Tuesday, 4 October 2011, 11:30-13:00 (60 minutes viewing time)
