Vegetation Survey of the Baviaanskloof-Mega Reserve

Consultants are invited to submit expressions of interest to undertake
the work outlined in the attached document

Background

Long term records of vegetation dynamics may be useful in determining
the baseline state and drivers of ecosystems, and in assessing direction
of change in community composition, diversity, structure or phenology in
response to change factors, including climate change, nutrient loading,
carbon dioxide fertilisation, alien species invasion, land use or
disturbance regime among others. The goal of this project is to follow
up on a vegetation survey in the Baviaanskloof Mega-reserve performed in
the 1990s so as to develop a long term record of vegetation dynamics.
The follow up requires locating the original vegetation monitoring plots
and re-surveying species composition, cover and abundance and recording
a series of descriptive and quantitative environmental variables.
