To all Research Directors/Managers and Administrators of Higher Education Institutions

 

DST/NRF CENTRE OF EXCELLENCE IN TREE HEALTH BIOTECHNOLOGY (CTHB) AT FABI, UNIVERSITY OF PRETORIA

 

MSC AND PHD BURSARIES/RESEARCH SUPPORT AVAILABLE FOR PREVIOUSLY DISADVANTAGED SOUTH AFRICAN STUDENTS AND THEIR SUPERVISORS IN 2012

 

Prof Mike Wingfield, Director of the CTHB and Prof Emma Steenkamp, Programme leader of the CTHB have asked me to send out an invitation to all HEI's advertising the availability of bursaries and research support funding for students and their supervisors working in the research area of our Centre of Excellence as advertised in the attached documents and on the CTHB website.

 

Kindly therefore forward this e-mail with the attached documents mentioned below, to the relevant Departments/researchers at your HEI :

 

*	Invitation letter from Prof Steenkamp dated 23 September 2011 
*	Advertisement for circulation or posting on noticeboards 
*	Application form for bursary applicants 
*	Application form for supervisors outlining research project proposals 
*	Ticklist of attachments to be included with the applications for which the closing date will be 17 October 2011.  (Late applications might be accommodated only if discussed with Prof Steenkamp)

Please note that the research project suggested by the supervisor should have been approved for support through your research committee and that the student should be of such a calibre as to meet the requirements for acceptance for registration for the MSc or PhD degree at your institution.
