Requirements:
·         A 4 year qualification in the Natural/ Environmental Sciences (or equivalent qualification) – NQF 7;
·         A minimum of 6 years post-qualification experience in Integrated Environmental Management and Environmental Impact Assessment;
·         A valid code 08 (EB) drivers’ license.

Recommendation:
·         Experience in the following:
o    Integrated Environmental Management and Environmental Impact Assessment;
o    Project Management;
o    Policy analysis, interpretation and formulation.

Key performance areas:
·         The provision of strategic integrated environmental management advice and support to the Western Cape Municipalities and other Western Cape organs of state;
·         The provision of regulatory advice and support to the Western Cape Municipalities and other Western Cape organs of state in terms of integrated environmental management;
·         The facilitation of internal and external integrated environmental management capacity building;
·         The development, management, participation in, and implementation of integrated environmental management projects.

Competencies:
·         Knowledge of the following:
o    Integrated Environmental Management and Environmental Impact Assessment, as well as the applicable legislation, policies, norms and guidelines;
o    Project Management;
o    Policy analysis, interpretation and formulation;
o    Strategic context of integrated environmental management in South Africa.
·         Proven computer literacy (MS Suite);
·         Good communication (verbal and written) skills in at least two of the three official languages of the Western Cape;
·         Project development and management skills.
NB: The successful incumbent must be willing to travel and work overtime when required.

Note on remuneration:
Cost-to-employer (CTE) remuneration packages for certain occupation-specific dispensations (OSD), the middle-management service (MMS) and contract positions are inclusive of all costs related to service benefits or obligations including basic salary, 13th cheque, medical assistance, housing assistance, pension-fund contributions, etc.
MMS remuneration packages are flexible and may be individually structured as prescribed. The MMS package may be structured for a car allowance. Where remuneration is not indicated as CTE, employees’ service benefits or obligations are funded or co-funded in terms of the applicable prescripts or collective agreements.
