Position on offer: A Governmental conservation organisation within the
United Arab Emirates is looking for a field researcher and/or ecologist
to start employment in November 2013. The position requires a dynamic
and highly motivated individual to work in challenging yet rewarding
environments for the promotion and development of conservation
structures and principles within the UAE. The individual will be
required to fill various roles within the conservation environment, e.g.
research, administration, patrols, general reserve work and management,
consulting, maintenance, baseline monitoring, rehabilitation, general
GIS work, report writing, publishing of articles relevant to the
promotion of conservation in the region and training. The position will
require someone that is both strong in the field and in the office as a
balanced outlook is required to fulfil the needs of the department.
Applicants should be willing to work in extreme climatic conditions, and
be able to maintain an interest in low bio-diversity environments.
Applicants should be able to work in a close knit team with a
multicultural framework. Self-starting, focus and patience is key
personality traits required. A strong conservation ethic and principle
is a must. Tertiary Education in environmental management related field
is required with extensive experience in conservation and natural
resource management being a key factor. Specialisation in zoology,
botany, marine biology etc. would be beneficial. The positions package
will be dependable on current experience and qualifications, the package
will be highly competitive. Single individuals with no dependants will
