We would like to bring to your attention a vacancy for a Postdoctoral Fellowship at icipe

"Leishmaniasis Risk Determinants - assessing environmental and ecological factors associated with Sand fly vector occurrence"



The key objective is to describe the environmental and ecological factors associated with the occurrence of sand flies, vectors of Leishmaniasis.  We are looking for a candidate with the following minimum requirements: PhD in Environmental sciences, Biology and/or Geoinformatics or Geography with special emphasis on remote sensing and GIS.  Further, knowledge in assimilation of in situ data and environmental variables into spatial modeling such as species diversity and ecological niche models.



Experience in landscape ecology and spatial assessment thereof, as well as understanding of disease vector mapping is an added advantage.



As this position will integrate geographical data with disease distribution data, experience in disease and vector identification, and control would be an added advantage.



Salary is 60K USD per annum
