*Anchor Environmental Consultants*is an independent consulting firm
based in Tokai, Cape Town. We undertake ecological, socio-economic and
resource economics research and assessments to inform strategy, planning
and decision making regarding the wise use of natural resources, mainly
in Africa. Our clients include a variety of stakeholders in the
environmental sector including industry, governments and NGOs operating
from local to international scales. We have two positions open:
1. Consultant position
Anchor has a position available for a Conservation Biologist and/or
Natural Resource Economist with interests and experience in *ecosystem
services and the social and economic aspects of natural resource
management.* Applicants should ideally have a minimum of a masters
degree with demonstrated qualifications, skills, experience and
publications in at least three of the following: economics, resource
economics, econometrics/statistics, sociology and conservation biology.
Applicants should be numerate, have a good understanding of
environmental policy, be resourceful, have excellent writing skills,
good interpersonal skills and be willing to travel.
Some projects on the go that the candidate would be involved in include
estimating the impacts of the rehabilitation of St Lucia estuary on
ecosystem services, the wellbeing of surrounding rural populations,
tourism, the sugar industry and the local economy; the role of forests
and REDD+ in the green economy of Zambia; socio-economic impacts of
marine protected areas; economic impacts of fishery policies; etc.
