Subject: [saabnet] POST-DOCTORAL AND PHD OPPORTUNITIES on monitoring global change impacts in megadiverse vegetation systems

The SAEON Fynbos Node seeks to appoint two Postdoctoral fellows and one
PhD candidate for their research programme developing monitoring systems
to detect global change impacts on ecosystem structure, composition and
function in the Cape Floristic Region.

The projects are focused on developing and testing variables that can be
used to monitor vegetation structure, composition and function at
different spatial and temporal scales. Variables range from plant traits
and diversity measures to indices derived from remote sensing, and will
be used in conjunction with new and existing data to test for impacts of
global change and/or establish relationships between variables measured
at different scales. Please see attached advertisement for more details
on specific projects.

The posts will be based at the Fynbos Node hosted at the South African
National Biodiversity Institute, Kirstenbosch, but candidates may sit at
Stellenbosch University or the University of Cape Town depending on
project requirements.
