*Qualifications:*Minimum of an MSc or PhD in Environmental Science field
*Experience:*Research proposal and report writing skills
Supervision of academic students
Practical knowledge of field practices and methodology
Broad range of interests within the field of environmental science
Drivers licence and PDP (or willing to get one on appointment)
Self-motivated, multi-skilled and able to work under pressure
Able to conduct field research on your own or in a group
*Job Description:*
The Resident Researcher will be responsible for,
·Aspects of research project & documentation writing and formulation.
·Supervising of academic students, interns and volunteers in all aspects
of research project formulation and field work.
·Supervision and undertaking of publication of Research Centre data
through journals, posters, magazine articles, short communications, etc.
·Hosting of students, volunteers and other visitors to the centre and
research accommodation.
·Networking with universities and other organisations with regards to
potential research project collaboration, hosting of academic students.
·Marketing of Research Centre through media, social media, attending &
presenting at conferences, local environmental engagements
·Ensuring Research Centre data base is current, correctly formatted &
maintained
·Environmental Education Centre and laboratory -- Supervise and maintain
the displays, permit applications for display items, upgrading of
displays for student and lodge guest, control, maintenance and
acquisition of all equipment held by the Research Centre.
·Giraffe behaviour & monitoring project -- run & supervise all aspects
of this project
·Guiding of research based activities for lodge guests
·Field work -- supervising and teaching of students, interns and
volunteers in research methodology
·Assist with logistical arrangements of student visits -- orientation,
transfers, activities, permits, documentation
·Undertake own research project/s
*Remuneration*:
R6000 minimum
