Employment opportunity

I am looking for someone qualified to assist in undertaking modified Whittaker plots in the Malolotja to Kruger Biodiversity Corridor in late December and in February. Having undertaken modified Whittaker plots before will be a recommendation. Some field experience in which you have sampled plots and ability to identify plants are essential qualifications. A sum of R 450 will be paid to this candidate upon the submission of a good quality data sheet and field herbarium that includes every species from the plot for each modified Whittaker plot. The work is to be done with Dr Hloniphani Moyo, who is based at Pullen Farm. I will pay for the transport in the field and for accommodation that may be needed in the Barberton area. The successful candidate will need to provide their own food and to organise to get themselves to Nelspruit. This opportunity will cover the undertaking of 20 to 25 plots and I anticipate that two can be done in a day. Dr Moyo intends to do plots on the five week days and rest on the two weekend days of each week. The field work will be demanding and will require long hours and sometimes long walks. A further opportunity will arise out of this one, to identify all the plant samples in the field herbaria and then to curate the data sheets accordingly – there will be additional payment for that. Please apply by sending a CV and letter of motivation, in which you explain how you are qualified to undertake this work and how you will be an asset to this project. Also indicate from when in December you might be available. Please send your application to me by close of work on Friday 12 December 2014.
