of succulents and management thereof. We would like candidate to join
our team starting from 1^st week of Jan’15.
Details are given as below:
*Biodiversity/Environmental Officer*
**
*Minimum Requirements*
·Degree/Diploma or post graduate qualification in Nature
Conservation/Conservation Ecology with 3-5 years of experience
especially succulent Karoo ecosystem will be preferable
·Computer Literacy (MS office)
·Driver’s license
·Must be able to obtain a Certificate of Medical Fitness (Red Ticket)
·Experience in Nature Conservation or related field would be an advantage
*Key qualities*
* Extremely passionate for nature and conservation
* Ability to write clear and concise reports and letters.
* Ability to organise own workload and prioritise effectively
* Basic Computer Skills
* Takes initiative and looks for ways to enhance skill set.
* Able to meet targets within given timeframes
* Ability to communicate at all levels
* Good knowledge of NEMA, NEMBA, CARA, NCA, Waste Act and Water Act
and all applicable environmental legislation
* Has knowledge and experience and is able to expand this (game
management, rehabilitation, project management, baseline data
collection & monitoring)
*Key Performance Areas:*
* Implementing approved EMPR conditions on site during construction
and operation period of Gamsberg project
* Promoting and implementing local biodiversity action plans i.e. the
BMM/Gamsberg Biodiversity Action Plan and offset agreement
* Preparing and implementing annual management plans based on
ecological surveys and scientific observation;
* Managing the Black Mountain Mining Game camp area
* Evaluating and monitoring of species, rehabilitation and projects;
* Management of vagrant and other species onsite and invasive species
control management
* Prepare, implement and environmental quality control projects
through contracting companies;
* Capturing, maintaining, recording and analyzing data for report writing;
* Biodiversity and environmental management awareness training through
presentations, public talks, tours, literature, displays and
workshops/conferences
* Management of biodiversity offset areas
* Providing practical solutions for biodiversity management in
Aggeneys town and BMM mining areas
* Liaison with regulatory authorities such as DENC, DEA, DMR and DWA
* Support Implementation of international standards IFC standards and
Corporate guidelines on environmental management (Vedanta
Sustainability Framework)
