Frankfurt Zoological Society, Serengeti National Park

FZS Project Manager - Frankfurt Zoological Society, Serengeti National Park
Application Deadline: 10 Sep 2014

An exceptional opportunity exists for an experienced and highly
motivated conservation practitioner, with proven experience in protected
area management and resource protection, to lead the Frankfurt
Zoological Society's Serengeti Conservation Project in Serengeti
National Park, Tanzania. The successful candidate will support all
aspects of park management, in particular the enhancement of security
and monitoring, the development of policies that promote responsible
tourism, and the control of invasive plant species.

Serengeti National Park forms the core area of the Serengeti Ecosystem.
At 14,763 km2, it comprises nearly half of the entire ecosystem. FZS has
been involved in the Serengeti for over 60 years and is the longest
serving NGO in the ecosystem. In order for FZS to manage its diverse
Serengeti intervention portfolio effectively, it has become necessary to
establish a Project Manager position responsible for coordinating the
activities of the Society in Park. Some of the key areas to be developed
under this position include the enhancement of security and monitoring
within the park, the development of policies that promote responsible
tourism, and the control of invasive plant species. Reporting to the
Regional Coordinator, the Serengeti Project Manager will ensure overall
coordination of FZS’ activities within the park, and will work in close
collaboration with FZS’ Serengeti Community Outreach Project.
