Dear Tammy

Please could you pass this on to the relevant lists within APES.

Best regards
Joshua

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have recently turned down a job offer for personal reasons but knowing the talent that exists within the School of APES I thought I would pass the offer on. The CEO has given me permission to do so.

I am not at liberty to send the entire job description out but the role is as follows:

Meru Campus, eZemvelo Nature Reserve
Knowledge Co-ordinator

Job purpose: This is a multi-faceted portfolio role in the Ezemvelo MERU eco-campus requiring an individual who is passionate about nature, conservation, climate change issues, education and knowledge dissemination, and able to work with guests, students, fellow staff, learners, and researchers equally well in a positive and uplifting manner.

The role is complex and includes a role in conservation on the reserve, guiding, lecturing, assessing learners, assigning students to various roles on the reserve.

Over and above that there is a requirement to liaise with schools, develop school programmes and co-ordinate school visits and run social-media platforms for the campus.

Requirements:

- Hons Degree in Ecology/Environmental Sciences/Nature Conservation
- FGASA Level 1 certificate will be an advantage
- First Aid Level 1 will be an advantage
- May be required to attain a PDP at the cost of the employer
- Should be truly passionate about the natural environment and inspiring others to develop an interest
- Sense of innovation, ownership and pride
- Teaching experience will be beneficial
- Good planning and organisation skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Can manage staff and students
- Is willing to engage in transcendental meditation twice daily
- Preference will be given to candidates younger than 30
- Indefatigable positivity and optimism

NB: Housing is provided on the reserve, located 2 hrs from Johannesburg and normal 20 days leave/annum will be given. As such, candidates will have to be comfortable with living on the reserve on their own for extended periods of time.

Remuneration will be discussed with those interested and includes accommodation.

This is an opportunity to build something almost from scratch and to work on an expansive reserve but will involve quite significant lifestyle adjustments. If anyone is interested please get hold of me via email at jaws.lbw at gmail.com<mailto:jaws.lbw at gmail.com>.
