From nerlank at uj.ac.za Thu Apr 3 12:21:15 2025 From: nerlank at uj.ac.za (Erlank, Natasha) Date: Thu, 3 Apr 2025 10:21:15 +0000 Subject: [SAHS] some updates and a reminder Message-ID: Dear Historians Apologies to those of you who get this message twice (or three times, we are operating off several different membership lists). SAHS Membership Please pay for your 2025-6 membership if you have not already done so. Thank you very much to the 40 or so members (out of 170) who have paid their memberships for the current cycle. If you paid directly to our bank account, you should have received a payment receipt. It would come via our software, Xero. The only current receipts not sent are for Paypal payments, but I think I have acknowledged these via email. You may pay online here, including via Paypal for international members https://sahs.org.za/payments/. If you want to receive your membership-linked copies of the SAHJ (virtually, or by regular mail) Please also remember to sign up on the website for membership, if you have already paid but not signed up. The website is our source of updated addresses for the delivery of your membership-linked with virtual and paper copies of the SAHJ. Some of you have requested only virtual copies; thank you - we have noted your details. Many of you have moved in recent years, and we know from the publisher that there are several outdated addresses in our system. Website updates and content - please please contribute If any of you have job ads or conference ads or CFPs you want to appear on the website, please either send your info to Sishuwa Sishuwa at Stellenbosch, who is the society's media officer (he keeps the society update on X and can also do so on FB, for those of you who are still on those platforms). He is copied on this email. You can also send your information to our site admin, Daniel Erlank, who is also copied on this email. We do accept job details, and also other similar info. Please try to send us also details of departmental news, student prizes, the EXCO just don't have the time to write all the copy ourselves. We particularly welcome news from the non-South African members and universities. R500 prize for best third year essay/ work Do remember that the society agreed, in 2025, to make a R500 prize available to each history department that falls within the ambit of the Southern African Historical Society (so Eswatini, Botswana, Malawi, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Lesotho, Namibia). This would be for a best third year essay or similar output. Please could you copy Annie Devenish and I on any requests, in sufficient time.
