Applications are invited for the post of Research Coordinator for the African Climate and Development Initiative (ACDI).  The ACDI is a strategic initiative at UCT that coordinates and enhances research and teaching on climate and climate change across departments and faculties.  The Research Coordinator will support the Director and the wider ACDI community at UCT in the development of research proposals, coordination of research related activities and management of research projects.  This is a full-time three-year contract position.

Requirements:
Minimum qualifications:
*         A Master's degree in a relevant subject related to climate change
Advantageous qualifications:
*         A PhD in a relevant subject
*         Administration qualification
Minimum Experience:
*         With Master's Degree - at least three years in a research and/or fund raising environment.
*         With PhD - at least one year in a research and/or fund raising environment.
Advantageous Experience:
*         Project proposal development and writing
*         Research project coordination
*         Fund raising (national and/or international)
*         Experience with the UCT academic environment
*         Experience with UCT administrative/financial systems

Responsibilities:

*         To support the Director of ACDI in research proposal development on behalf of ACDI and the UCT climate change research community

*         To support the Director of ACDI and the Department of Alumni & Development in proposal development to philanthropic donors and foundations

*         To support and manage ACDI-led research activities such as workshops, conferences, seminars, background research and policy briefings

*         Manage the administrative (financial, reporting, logistics) of ACDI-led research projects

The annual remuneration package, including benefits, is between R255 044 and R300 021.
