Subject: [saabnet] M. Sc bursaries available for research in plant systematics (UFS).

The University of the Free State, department Plant Sciences, division Botany has three bursaries (R40 000 each) available for 2013 for students who are hard working and motivated in the undertaking of an M. Sc study in plant systematics that includes molecular, taxonomic and chemotaxonomic classification.
A choice of three different projects in Asteraceae Systematics are available. Details will be provided to interested and eligible applicants. The successful applicants will join a Botany research group which is multidisciplinary with the interest of exploring botanical biodiversity and conservation in South Africa.

Applicants must be

·       South African

·       Willing to undertake field work when required

·       Able to do herbarium work and identify plants

·       In possession of a valid drivers licence

·       Computer literate

·       Able to communicate well and write in English

The successful applicants will be registered as full time students at the University of the Free State (Bloemfontein, Main campus). Commencement date: As soon as possible.
